Guy Maddin, December 9th

Surrealism: Destiny & Daniel
Perhaps it is surrealism or perhaps it is its overdramatic flare, but I do not feel a draw to Guy Maddin as I have with the previous filmmaker presentations. Maybe it was the application of surrealist imagery or German expressionist influences that do no meet my tastes. The primitive style in his filmmaking converts from the beginning of his film career to the current and is an interesting concept matter to me. Although I do not have particularly enjoy watching his work, we both hold the same views: "hauled by the notion of lost films." This is one of my first and last thoughts in a day. I want to explore how he translates this into his installations.
